MANGALAM
The auspicious conclusion

Niru-098.jpg

The Mangalam is the traditional concluding piece of a Bharatanatyam recital. This final hymn is an offering of gratitude and well-wishes, bringing the performance to a close.

The piece features a bhajan, a devotional song, that carries a profound message. It speaks to the human search for peace and joy, reminding us that true happiness and contentment come from Bhakti (devotion) and the constant remembrance of God's name.

The bhajan highlights the importance of spiritual practice and the guidance of a Guru (spiritual teacher) on the path to moksha (liberation) and self-realization.

The dancer's performance culminates in a final gesture of thanks to the divine, the guru, the musicians, and the audience for their blessings and presence throughout the evening.
