Vidhushi Kolkata Padmavathi Saranathan

Vidhushi Kolkata Padmavathi Saranathan is an 'A' - Grade artiste of All India Radio.

Her journey in Carnatic music started under the able guidance of Gurus Shri A. Anantaraman and Smt Champakavalli of Guruguha Gana Vidyalaya (Muthuswamy Dikshitar's Shishya Parampara), in Kolkata. She has been a disciple of Sangeeta Kalacharya Smt. Suguna Varadachari since 1998.


Hailing from a family of musicians, she has been performing concerts from the age of 12 and has over 3 decades of performing experience.


Some of her notable performances across India’s most prestigious platforms are for Madras Music Academy (Senior Slot 2024 December Music Season), Akashvani Sangeeth Sammelan, National Program of Music (AIR), SVBC TV channel concerts. She has also performed extensively in concerts for other prominent organizations across India and the United States.


She excels in Ragam Tanam Pallavi renditions which is considered the most advanced form of Manodharma and has composed several creative pallavis for her concert presentations. Apart from regular concerts, she has presented several thematic concerts based on deities, composers, numbers and rare ragas.


A multi-faceted artist, Smt. Padmavathi is an acclaimed composer, a scholar who curates insightful thematic concerts and thillanas, set to tune pasurams, shlokas and compositions of poets like Arunachala Kavi, Bharatiyar. As a reputed teacher she has been training students at a concert level and has also conducted workshops for music and dance students in India and abroad.


In addition to being a skilled vocalist, she's an accomplished violinist and Bharatanatyam dancer. She built a distinguished corporate career as a Chartered Accountant, rising to Vice President at a multinational Big 4 consulting firm. She left this role to pursue music full-time. She holds a master's degree in Carnatic music and is currently pursuing her Ph.D in Carnatic music at Central University of Tamil Nadu.


Vidhushi Kolkata Padmavathi Saranathan is also the guru of Nirupama, who is blessed to be studying Carnatic music under her guidance.
